The polyglot café
This weekly polyglot café was created three years ago, thanks to volunteers, most of the time students, who handle the organization. This café is open to all, and takes place every Tuesday night at 20H30 at Le Lieu Unique in Nantes. Every people is welcomed to discover the Chinese culture, find people to speak with, and improve its Chinese. This café also helps Chinese students for every kind of situation, daily life problems, find an apartment, write a cover letter, etc. or just improve their French.
Autour du monde association
Autour du Monde was created in 2002-2003 by French and foreign students.
Motivated by the desire to improve the knowledge of the different cultures
represented in Nantes with foreign students, the association wished to improve
their integration, by involving them with the association activity, and by
making French people aware of their presence. Since the creation, many
volunteers succeeded, and their actions have increased a lot.
Today the main points are:
- Increase the integration of foreign students on the campus, but also in
Nantes, by improving their relationship with French students, and by offering a
lot of activities and meeting during their time spent in Nantes.
- Increase public awareness of the diversity of cultures represented in
Nantes, by offering many occasion to meet new people and exchange.
- Encourage Nantes inhabitants to open their mind, prepare them to
international mobility by creating strong relationship with foreign students
represented in Nantes, but also by speaking every week foreign language.
- Promote intercultural exchange and other culture, with activities and
meeting.
